Well its actually crazy to see how people have put aside the idea of segregation. now a days if you mention the word people think directly to the years when the civil war was still going on. It’s true though, the fact that todays attempt at integrating schools has not been a huge success. I personally know many white folks who have decided to place their children in private schools (with a very small, if any, minority group) for fear that these integrated schools will be bad schools or too dangerous. And thats exactly right. If only white people would join in reaching society’s goal of truly ending segregation, then we would see results. Apparently schools with a large percentage of black and hispanic students get very little attention from the government regardless of how much they try. However, schools where theres a decent percentage of white students, recieve enough attention to provide proper books, a physically safe and attractive school, and happy, enthusiastic teachers. From my own experince I’ve seen how integrated schools are much safer and cheerful than those that aren’t. Although at the same time I’ve also noticed how some integrated schools can still hold a sense of racism (according to a school year expirience I had in Tampa).
